In 2025, our ʻāina was given a voice by friends of the forest Kayla Asing and Malia Heimuli. ʻOli Waikōloa calls to this region’s resilient nature as it stood against time, while also empowering its verdant future as a place of learning.

ʻOli Waikōloa

E hāliu!
E maliu mai i ka leo naʻauao o nā kūpuna,
E ola nei i ke ahe lau makani o Waikōloa.
Eia nō i ka ʻāina wai ʻole, kahi lamakū o ka naʻauao.
E ulu māhuahua ka wiliwili i ka malu o Puʻu Hinaʻi.
E kūpaʻa mau, he ʻaʻaliʻi kū makani nō!
E ulu ē! E hāliʻi hou i ka uluwehiwehi o ka ʻāina.
Aia hoʻi ka ʻikena, kū ʻo Waikōloa i ka mālie.

Turn and have regard!
Take heed to the wisdom of our ancestors,
which is still alive in the winds of Waikōloa.
Here, in the waterless lands, is where great wisdom is kept.
The wiliwili flourishes under the protection of Puʻu Hīnaʻi.
Be resilient! Be resilient, stand against the winds of change / be the wind resisting ʻaʻaliʻi!
Grow forth! The land is once again blanketed in verdure.
Behold the beautiful sight of Waikōloa, existing in peace and tranquility.
